The story began long before Bistro Bacchus opened its doors. Niko, the grandfather of owner Vedran, first lit his restaurant’s kitchen stove back in 1957, serving the kind of traditional Croatian cuisine that defined several generations. That spirit never left the family. When Silvija and Vedran Tršić decided to open Bistro Bacchus, they weren’t merely launching a new venue; they were continuing a legacy that already spanned decades.
Coming from a long line of fishermen who hauled fresh catch in the pristine sea waters around Mljet Island, Silvija brings her own extraordinary heritage to every dish. At Bistro Bacchus, freshness is non-negotiable, shaping whatever ends up on your plate. Besides all the fresh Adriatic seafood and strictly local staples, the kitchen draws on the prized produce of Croatia’s interior, such as Slavonian kulen, hand-cured meats with their earthy woodland flavours that bring a different, yet equally deeply satisfying warmth to the table.
Bistro Bacchus decisively returned to its roots: authentic Croatian recipes — Dalmatian and continental alike — handled with care, executed with skill.
